White Fences Rainbow Bridge - Remembering Our Animal Friends

Barbie and Sunny

We Love You, Sunny! * In Memoriam * 1972 - 2007

We lost our dearest horse friend, Sunny, on Wednesday, Oct 31, 2007. He passed away due to old age.

Sunny was born April 27, 1972. He was 35. Sunny was Barbie's first horse, and helped teach so many children how to ride including Barbie and her daughters and Angel and Gina. His favorite treats were Hostess fruit pies. He was a forth level dressage horse, drove a cart, barrel raced, his first first place was in jumping. He could go out of a barrel class and then right into a western pleasure class and win both!!!

We remember Sunny with our favorite poem, and know he walks the Rainbow Bridge and runs free and plays now with Devon, Sampras, Simba and all our dearly departed animal friends.

"My horse has gone ahead now, To blaze a trail for us;
To find out every rocky place, Or one where we can’t pass;
He'll seek the finest grassland, And water fresh and pure;
To make sure when we travel on, Our path beyond is clear;
He’s never let me down before, I know now and I see;
He’ll blaze our trail to heaven, And come back one day for me."

The Rainbow Bridge Poem

inspired by a Norse legend

By the edge of a woods, at the foot of a hill,
Is a lush, green meadow where time stands still.
Where the friends of man and woman do run,
When their time on earth is over and done.

For here, between this world and the next,
Is a place where each beloved creature finds rest.
On this golden land, they wait and they play,
Till the Rainbow Bridge they cross over one day.

No more do they suffer, in pain or in sadness,
For here they are whole, their lives filled with gladness.
Their limbs are restored, their health renewed,
Their bodies have healed, with strength imbued.

They trot through the grass, without even a care,
Until one day they start, and sniff at the air.
All ears prick forward, eyes dart front and back,
Then all of a sudden, one breaks from the herd.

For just at that instant, there's no room for remorse;
Together again, one person...one horse.
So they run to each other, these friends from long past,
The time of their parting is over at last.

The sadness they felt while they were apart,
Has turned into joy once more in each heart.
They nuzzle with a love that will last forever,
And then, side-by-side, they cross over… together.

"God forbid that I should go to any heaven in which there are no horses."

- R.B. Cunningham Graham

"When I bestride him, I soar, I am a hawk;
He trots the air;
The earth sings when he touches it;
The basest horn of his hoof is more musical than the pipe of Hermes;
He is pure air and fire;"

- William Shakespear

In Remembrance of Simba

We lost our dear dog friend, Simba "the Wolf Dog" as he was affectionatly known by White Fences staff and clients, on Good Friday, 2007. He passed away due to old age. Simba was 14. We remember Simba with our favorite poem, and know he walks the Rainbow Bridge and watches over Devon, Sampras, and all our dearly departed animal friends, there for us.

"Dogs are our link to paradise. They don't know evil or jealousy or discontent. To sit with a dog on a hillside on a glorious afternoon is to be back in Eden, where doing nothing was not boring -- it was peace. "

-- Milan Kundera

"He is your friend, your partner, your defender, your dog. You are his life, his love, his leader. He will be yours, faithful and true, to the last beat of his heart. You owe it to him to be worthy of such devotion"
